Midlife is when you start to repeat yourself and your chins follow suit.

Well I handed over lots of pennies to the Severn Valley Railway again, (yes I know I said never again after the 1940s thing), but you know I thought I would give them another go. So on Saturday we headed off for the ghost train. When I booked I was under the impression that the train would go from Kidderminster to Bridgnorth and then return to Kidderminster, our tickets said Kidderminster-Bridgnorth, it didn’t. But let’s start at the beginning. We arrived at Kiddy at 6.30 which left a half hour before the train was due out, half an hour was more than enough. The station masters office had lit up ghosts in it which were rather cute, then there were a few bats, ghosts and a couple of shadow skeletons attached to a wall, and an over priced sweet stall, retro they may be but £2.25 for a very small bag of chocolate buttons with hundreds and thousands on them is day light robbery. There was a very entertaining magician, entertaining for all the wrong reason, he reminded me of a good intentioned granddad who said he would do a few tricks for his grandsons birthday party, (no I am not mocking, I did magic tricks at my friends daughters party many moons ago, it’s not easy). Then the train was late so he had to make it up as he went along, which made him even more loveable. Eventually we got on the train and set off. The first stop was at Bewdley station. The decorations consisted of fairy lights, snowmen and a couple of lit up skulls and cobwebs. Then it was off again, as we passed through Arley station there were glimpses of (not sure if there were people or models) dressed up, then it was on to Highley, where we sat and waited and waited, funnily enough this station didn’t have a single decoration, and given we sat there for ages it could have done with it. The train then headed back to Kiddy. On board entertainment consisted of the lights being putout, and two very annoying ladies dressed up as, (I haven’t a clue), walking up and down the train saying it’s too quiet in here make some noise, then shouting ahhhhh themselves, all in all very disappointing.

Happy Halloween!!

You ‘ ve been Mooned!!

Cheerfulness keeps up a kind of daylight in the mind, and fills it with a steady and perpetual serenity. – Joseph Addison

It will soon be All Hallows Eve (Halloween), the time when the gates to the other side open making it easier for the departed and the living to visit each other. In the past on All Hallows Eve people would put candles in their windows to guild their ancestors home and set a place for them at the dinner table leaving them food as a thank you for their protection, they would also leave food out for wandering sprits to ensure good crops the following year. I think that a lovely custom.

Yesterday I ended up at the dentist with a tooth ache; turns out I had fractured the tooth. Not sure as to whether he could save the tooth or it would need removing he put enough anesthetic in to cover the cutting of the gum and removal, so much in fact that it was 4 ½ hours before I got the feeling back. He made a repair and said it could take up to two weeks to settle down but the tooth will need removing if it starts to hurt again. *TuT* On the up side I won £10 on the lotto, so that’s a tenner towards the bill. (£47 for a filling).

Take me back today is…

A bit more slop

Women will never be equal to men until they can walk down the street with a bald head and a beer gut, and still think they are sexy.

“Too late for fruit, too soon for flowers.”

Walter De La Mare (on his death bed when asked if he would like some fruit or flowers )

Ooh look I’ve gone all sloppy…

Yesterday I toddled off to see the cardiologist, (by this time convinced everything would be fine), only to be told ‘No it’s not’, basically there is part of my heart that is not getting any blood. So the order of the day is keep taking the tables, lose weight, cut my cholesterol and a bit of monitoring is going to go on. On the up side my blood pressure was stop on, it hasn’t been that good in years.

I have been flicking through number 1’s Super Sonic Festival program which took place a week or so ago it’s full of wonderfully named bands like ‘The Skull Defekts’ ‘Teeth Of The Sea’ ‘Wolves In The Throne Rooms’ and ‘Drunk In Hell’ (well you would need to be wouldn’t you, haha)

The top toy list is out for this Christmas I find Milky the Bunny a little scary

A new bat colonie has been found, everyone say arrrr, I think they are so sweet.

Lastly I am glad to see the council come to it’s sences and will allow the RBL to collect for Poppy day. Last year I was talking to the old soldier who sells them in the super market we use and he was telling me that it would be the last year he would be able to sell them inside the store, if he wanted to continue selling them there he would have to do it outside, how bloody mean of them.

OK moan over I am off for some sardines on wholemeal bread.

A man’s face is his autobiography. A woman’s face is her work of fiction.

Oscar Wilde

Today the world population hits 70 billion, 70 billion on a planet that can’t cope. This poor old planet has been having trouble feeding its ever growing population for years, have we listen to her, I don’t think so. We don’t have enough food and water to go around now not to mention space. We are animals and like animals we are territorial, we will fight to protect our space, food, water, as the world population grows things will and can only get worse. Are we heading for ‘A Brave New World’ or a ‘Logan’s Run’ or worse? I don’t have the answer and I think Mother Nature will take things into her own hands, be that in the way of more earthquakes, floods, volcanoes or some killer disease. Hold on tight it’s going to be a bumpy ride.
