Who would have thought a post-nasal-drip could cause so many problems and be so uncomfortable? Well I didn’t until I got one, the doctor thinks it was caused by the flu I had at New Year, so now I have to use a steroid spray and steam for a week to see if the symptoms go away. What a way to start the New Year.
We have had a couple of calls telling me that there is a fault on our computer, the first said someone was coming to turn off our connection, so I hung up and contacted our supplier who told me that would never happen, the second time I said we don’t have a computer and they said ‘oh sorry.’ Anyone else had any of these calls. Thing is it’s hard to report them as they won’t give you a contact number and 1471 just brings up ‘We do not have the callers numbers’
We had a pleasant surprise in the post, the gas and electric bill arrived and imagine my surprise to see that it was nearly £200 cheaper than the bill for the same time last year, so the cavity wall installation and upgrading a couple of electrical appliances has cut the bills.
I can’t believe we are 11 days into the new year already, where does the time go?
If you get up one more time than you fall

Hi lom – Happy New Year missus, glad to hear that you are feeling a bit better, don’t like the sound of a post nasal drip…
I also don’t like the sound of your calls re your PC ??? weird… sound to me as though some silly beggar is playing stupid games and that it’s a right CON ! Did you report it to the Police ??
That was a lovely surprise re yer bills though – it seems as though the insulation etc has worked well … We are still in the same position with our insulation in the loft as we were ! ie.. nothing has been done…
Rob had told them we would clear the loft and get back to them to come and put the new thick insulation down…. fairy stories ! as usual with Rob nothing has been done! and he won’t let anyone else do owt about it !!! Men !! I gave up a while ago ! The thing about our electric and gas is that we are with ‘Staywarm’ and we pay a set amount for any amount of gas or electric… so it doesn’t matter whether the loft is insulated or not !! weird I know but that’s how they work.
My God this comment is growing by the minute never mind the date on the calendar….
Cheers, Kate x.
Hi Kate,
The post nasal drip is not pleasant, still there’s not a lot I can do about it, except keep taking the meds, although the steam does work and I can do that as many times a day as I want.
We have reported the calls and to our supplier, who told us they have had a lot of reports, so they must be working the area. We had another one last night, this time saying they were from Windows
Does that mean it doesn’t matter how much power you use your bills are always the same? That must be a relief in this bad weather.
£200 cheaper? Holy shit batman, my electric bill isn’t that much at it’s highest month in the winter. Last month it was $90.00 US. You living in a castle?

Good luck with that and you will live for billions of years. So much for chinese proverbs.
Hi Billy,
That bill is for gas and electric and our bills cover 3 months, and no I don’t live in a castle, we live in a small old terraced house. The price of gas and electric here is quite expensive; a lot of the population are in fuel poverty and it just keeps going up.
As for the proverb, I think it just means ‘Don’t give up’
