Well Christmas has gone shame. Hope you all had a good one.
Things didn’t go to plan, still Que Sera Sera. (Or is it Quel, I never did French). Christmas Eve Mother and Father-in-law should have come round for a meal after Father-in-law had had his last chemo treatment, but his bloods were not right, and hubby has the flu, (real flu not man flu, hubby was really quite ill), so we cancelled it. Still we had a nice gold table.
(and yes I know they are odd glasses, I don’t own a full set of anything, haha, and yes one plate doesn’t have a present, I didn’t bother with one for myself) Christmas Day, hubby got out of bed for about 20 minutes then went back and slept the day away, so it was just number 1 and me for dinner, we spent the day watching DVDs, and opening what Santa had left under the tree. I got up Boxing Day to find we had no Gas, so I left number 1 and hubby tucked up, pulled on my boots and headed out to try to find somewhere open to get hubby something for his flu. When I got onto the main road it was obvious why we didn’t have any gas, the smell was so strong. I stood in the bus stop for about 20 minutes with another person and chatted about the weather and the fact that the bus was very late even for a Sunday service, when a young man came past and told us there were no buses, he had rung up to check times to be told the service we were waiting for was not running. So I walked to the local small shop in hopes they would have something, I know why people don’t shop in small shops now, nearly £8 for flu tables! Anyway back home and the lovely gas board had diverted the gas, (or whatever it is they do and we had gas, so I put the heating on and warmed the house to tropics, in case it went off again). Hubby got up but still wasn’t very well, so we decided we wouldn’t go to sis-in-laws party and I cooked another Christmas dinner so that hubby hadn’t missed out, he ate it then went back to sleep.
Kitten enjoyed Christmas, turkey and cream for breakfast must be a cats dream, haha, Santa even left her a present.
We should have been packing up the Wendy house and heading off for a few days camping today, but we have cancelled that, because hubby is still not well and the lane to the place were we keep the Wendy House is still frozen and snow bound, I am wondering now if we will get any money back, at the time we booked their computer wasn’t working so we paid in full, properly not.
Soon be New Year, I wonder what that will hold.
In the hour of adversity be not without hope,
for crystal rain falls from black clouds.
– Persian Poem
Merry Christmas everyone
No matter what you believe, have a wonderful holiday, and stay safe and warm.
I remember watching this one Christmas Eve when I was younger, you have to have a ghost story at Chirstmas.
Have a happy Holiday, and may this season bring you what you need not what you want. They are two very different things.
‘Twas Christmas broach’d the mightiest ale;
‘Twas Christmas told the merriest tale;
A Christmas gambol oft could cheer
The poor man’s heart through half the year.
The rose tree wanted to get in on the act, so it asked Mother Nature to help out. MN gave her these lovely icicles; they look quite pretty with the security light twinkling on them. (Click on pic to get a better look)
I had to carry the rubbish though the house this morning, the back gate was frozen solid, I love it, a good old fashioned winter, we haven’t had one in such a long time.
Whilst cleaning the kitchen this morning I was listening to a report on TV about how to fake disappointment at a gift, (no that’s not right, how not to show disappointment). Really, you should be grateful you have been given anything, isn’t it the thought that counts? Then they gave a list of things you should not give as presents, mmmmm. I would love any of them. The list said no socks, smellies, jumpers or anything practical.
You Are A Reindeer
You are a solid, dependable person. You are more likely to act than talk.
You have a lot of endurance and grit. You can work well into the night if you need to.You are cooperative and competent. You like being part of a team, especially if everyone is pulling their weight.
You are energetic and hyper. You don’t like to stay still for to long, and you’re always ready to go somewhere new!
“A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone near,
A little gift from one held dear,
Best wishes for the coming year.”
John Greenleaf Whittier
I baked most of yesterday, Mince pies, mini fruit cakes and mini cherry cakes, Christmas chocolate, mini Christmas and chocolate puddings.
Then while washing up I watched the birds on the feeders and the squirrel digging in the snow looking for nuts.
And if you want a look here you are.
This is just a selected few, I did bake a lot more
I love the way this snow looks lacy
Is this a star in the making? She’s good
He who has not Christmas in his heart will never find it under a tree. ~Roy L. Smith
Happy Winter solstice everyone, it’s WINNNTER. I watched the lunar eclipse this morning, well on the TV anyway. The moon is way past where we live by that time in the morning, an eclipse and a solstice all at the sametime, the first one for 400 years, isn’t exciting.
Well this weather is causing a bit of chaos isn’t, aeroplanes grounded, trains and public transport taken off, and my hanging basket has become that heavy with snow and ice it has fell off the wall, the weight has just pulled the screws straight out of the wall.
Today I am baking, so bye for now.
Stay warm and safe.
I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year. ~Charles Dickens
